Appearance:
Deleb is a well-built young man of around 6 feet in height. While of an average weight, he has clearly defined muscles and a considerable amount of strength. His skin is tan, and is dotted in some places with freckles. The candidate’s eyebrows are thick and overshadow his small brown eyes. His hair is black and barely reaches his shoulders, although he generally keeps it pulled back in a messy bun while doing chores or trying to look decent.
Clothing is bothersome to Deleb, and he will go without a shirt as often as he possibly can. When he does wear shirts, they tend to be loose so he doesn’t feel so constricted. While Deleb does take care to keep clean, he fails to keep his facial hair in check and often has stubble from not shaving as regularly as he should. The candidate can be seen with a red tint to his hands at times from redwort that he uses as an antiseptic wash before helping wounded patients.

Deleb has extensive knowledge of Pernese plants and their medicinal uses. As a journeyman he also has plenty of experience with common ailments as well as healing procedures. Deleb hopes to improve his knowledge of dragon and wher healing now that he lives at the Weyr.
Basic Personality:
At only 21 turns of age, Deleb often tries to act much older than he is. The candidate will often be so focused on chores or studying that he fails to enjoy being young. The young man really does love people, and he works hard to build trusting relationships with all those that he can. He also knows how important it is to be logical and calm during stressful times and strives to maintain his composure always.
The journeyman healer is incredibly confident in his knowledge of plants and basic healing procedures for people, but can become nervous if faced with an injured dragon. Despite being a friendly person, Deleb can come off as uptight as he does not approve of pranks or any other mischief that could lead to others being injured. Because of his stern nature, he often finds himself relating to those who are older than him as opposed to the folk his age. Deleb has never had a romantic relationship with someone his age, and he finds folk older than himself to be much more attractive.
A hopeless romantic, Deleb dreams of someday settling down and having or adopting children. Becoming a candidate has temporarily put a damper on his plans, as the young man is well aware the certain restrictions that he will have to follow if he impresses a dragon or a wher. But training as a healer has taught the young man patience, so hopefully he can survive candidacy and pursue a romantic relationship later on in his life.

Born to two holdfolk at Southern Hold, Deleb had a rather normal upbringing. As a small child he was fascinated by the plants that he would find inside and outside of the hold. Seeing potential for him as a healer, he was sent off to Fort Hold to become an apprentice at the age of 12. From his earliest days as an apprentice the boy showed great potential was a fast learner. As expected, he excelled in learning about plants and their medicinal uses. At the age of 18 Deleb became a journeyman healer. He was transferred back to Southern Hold and spent a good deal of time gaining hands-on experience by treating wounded holders.
At 21 turns Deleb was searched by searchrider from Crescent Cove Weyr. At first the journeyman healer was unsure what to make of becoming a candidate, but because of the urgency in which he was searched he decided it would be best to go. With the uncertainty of the future looming ahead of him, Deleb is focusing upon becoming a productive candidate and resident of the Weyr. If he fails to impress a dragon or bond to a wher, the candidate plans on asking if he could stay at the Weyr as a healer and learn more about dragon and wher healing.
