Okay, so where we're at right now is that Thread has not quite started to fall, but is due soon. For now Southern Weyr and Western Weyr will working together to cover the island if thread until the Weyr is up to strength. Which brings us to my question. How would you all like for time to progress on this site? I've been on a few sites that do it many different ways but the main two I've seen have been: 1) Time progresses as it does in the threads with time jumps here and there as leadership sees fit (usually after a vote by the members). orrrrrr...... 2) Time progresses at a slightly accelerated pace with a week equaling a month or something similar. Time jumps can sometimes included with this as well, but usually not necessary. So at the point we're at, most of our active members are from Red River which uses option 2, but Western (our sister site and the canon we share) uses something more like option 1. Normally I'd say we'd just progress time as Western does, but since it's no longer active I think we need to decide for ourselves. Personally, I like option 2 but right now we're kind of in a 'stand-still' time period ICly so I would like to get everyone's opinions before the Hatching when time will start progressing at a more reasonable rate. Anyway, discuss!

I'm fond of option 2 as well, it seems to work really well at RR :3

I like option 2 personally, because it helps to progress plots quickly without them carrying out through months RL where they can get boring and stagnant. However, I've always felt that time progressed a little too quickly at RR, but since everyone seems to like it over there, I just leave it be. Might I suggest 1 RL Month = 3 In-Game months. About 10 days per In-game month? Either that or 2 weeks = 1 RL month.

I agree with FA. Option one is nice because it makes the pace more casual, but then there's always that ambiguity of "when will my weyrling graduate?" or "is my flitt old enough to rise?" It ends up leading to more hassle and sometimes it feels like plots and whatnot seem to lag and ultimately die. I also agree on one RL month equals three IC months, or one season. RR always seems too fast to me.
Of course, since we're just starting out, the time can be a bit more flexible because it'll be frustrating to have the clutch hatch when there's not enough members, but there is always adoptables.

I'm more used to option 2 (its the style of play I've most been exposed to) but if there is some kind of indicator on the sidebar that shows passage of time, then I'm quite ok with an accelerated time option.
Mostly I like option 2 though

Well we're at the point where we have the bare minimum active members that I would be okay with holding a hatching for (Tara's still working on a character but that's fine). So where I'm at as far as time goes now is setting an actual date for the hatching a ways off, update the ads to indicate said date, hopefully get some more members in, if not -shrugs- like Dana said there's adoptables. I think people will probably be fairly cautious about joining until I get some things here a little more fleshed out or until they see that there's more rp going on which will pick up as things move along.
I like the 10 days=1 month idea better than the 2 week one just because 2 weeks ends up being more like 1.5 months=3 months which can get weird.
