Kulma of Burgundy Amityth
Name: Kulma
Song: “Stronger” cover by Sam Tsui
Age: 26 Turns
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Rank: Burgundyrider
Family:
Father: E’rit (Eulrit), 56 turns, bluerider at Southern Weyr
Mother: Kasima, 52 turns, greenrider at Southern Weyr
Half-brother: E’ref (Eulref), 28 turns, bluerider a Southern Weyr
Half-sister: Orima, 23 turns, candidate at Southern Weyr
Dragon: Burgundy Amityth
Pets: None yet
Appearance:
Upon first glance it is easy to recognize that Kulma is shorter than the average Pernese woman. At only 5 feet and four inches tall, the small woman is often mistaken for a younger child rather than an adult. Though she had a strong upbringing Kulma’s height in combination with her lean build often make her look more fragile than she really is. Her eyes are a deep but richly colored brown, like the bark of a tree. The burgundyrider often has her faded dark brown hair tied to the side but draping over the front of her right shoulder. Her skin is a pale shade of tan that often has a pinkish undertone from spending too much time outside.
Overall Kulma has a very friendly and warm face, one that is almost always adorned with some sort of smile. Holding herself with a sense of pride, the burgundyrider almost never slouches and prefers to stand at attention when in the company of others. As far as her preferences for clothing go Kulma loves to adorn herself with what few pieces of jewelry she has. Making an effort to dress respectfully, she also keeps in mind her comfort.
Skills:
Conflict resolution- Kulma has had plenty of experience helping others resolve issues to (mostly) happy results.
Doting caretaker- The burgundyrider enjoys playing with and caring for those that are younger than herself, she is especially fond of taking her favorites “under her wing” so to speak.
Basic Personality:
Despite her fragile appearance Kulma is a strong-willed and persevering woman. She is polite to those who earn her respect and trust but she can be more reserved and cold with those she does not know well. Being Weyrborn has instilled Kulma with a great sense of pride as well as a great sense of duty to whichever Weyr she resides at. In everything she does the burgundyrider strives for success and this can at times become her downfall.
Kulma recognizes how important it is that a Weyr function smoothly and as such she has always taken an interest in helping those who need it. She often times will step into situations to help resolve issues, regardless if she was asked to help or not. While not necessarily incredibly intelligent, the woman does have a rather good ability to listen and understand that there can be multiple ways to solve an issue or approach a situation. When not actively assigned to a task Kulma will go and volunteer to help in the crèche or other work in the Lower Caverns. The burgundyrider easily recognizes that the security of the Weyr’s future depends on more than just the dragonriders, and as such she is very kind and respectful to non-rider folk.
Strengths (You can have more but you should describe each.)
Faults (same as strengths)
History:
Kulma was born to Southern Weyr residents bluerider E’rit and greenrider Kasima as a product of flightlust. Not long after her birth she was placed into the crèche where she grew up under the care of the crèche mothers and in the company of her fellow weyrbrats. As soon as she was older the child enjoyed caring for those younger than herself and helping resolve any fights that took place. Since she had showed interest in dragons from an early age it was unsurprising when she was found to be a suitable candidate at the age of 16 turns. Despite the fact she was found to be a suitable candidate the young Kulma failed to impress a dragon for her first few hatchings.
Fearing that she would never impress a dragon, Kulma threw herself into her chores and lessons. The candidate set aside her wistful wishes of free-time and instead worked to become successful at the tasks assigned to her. Wherever she was needed in the Weyr she helped out, hoping that if she failed to impress a dragon that at least she would be useful somewhere else. Finally Kulma’s dreams were realized when at the age of 21 Kulma stood and impressed burgundy Amityth.
Amityth was the best thing to happen to Kulma in her young life. During their weyrling lessons Kulma struggled to prove herself as a capable rider and would often become harsh on herself when she had trouble perfecting certain flight patterns and wing formations. Amityth stepped in and became a reassuring and calming figure for Kulma to lean on. Working together the two successfully passed their lessons and happily moved on to the exciting new adventure of being a full-fledged rider and mature dragon.
When Amityth chased a female dragon for the first time Kulma began to realize more about herself and what sort of relationship she wanted. Unfortunately for the rider, over a few turns none of her partners wanted the same kind of long-lasting relationship that she did. Feeling somewhat discouraged Kulma and Amityth spent a few turns hoping for a fresh start. When the opportunity arose for them to transfer to Crescent Cove Weyr both rider and dragon practically jumped on the opportunity. Arriving at Crescent Cove Weyr just in time for the gather and egg viewing of the first clutch, both Kulma and Amityth hoped to make themselves useful at their new home.

Strengths (You can have more but you should describe each.)
- Persevering- Regardless how terrible circumstances may become Kulma is always willing to continue pressing forward
- Dedicated- Kulma is incredibly dedicated to whichever Weyr she resides in and will do her best to fulfill her duties
- Helpful- In need of a volunteer for a task big or small, interesting or boring? Kulma will be there to lend you a hand (whether you want it or not)!
- Empathetic- When issues between any folk arise Kulma springs into action. She is quite proud of her ability to listen to both sides of an issue and help bring the sides to an agreeable solution.
- Nurturing- Kulma has a soft spot for children and folk younger than herself and often times will go to play with and care for children in the crèche.
Faults (same as strengths)
- Prideful- Sometimes Kulma’s pride can get the best of her and she can come off as cocky or arrogant.
- Unyielding- There are times in life when one should simply give up and try again later, but such a time does not exist for Kulma. She will push herself to the point that she disregards her own safety and then her dragon must step in.
- Wary- For those that she does not know well, the burgundyrider can be somewhat suspicious and cautious acting.
- Prying- Let’s face it, Kulma likes to know what is going on, especially if there is a problem she thinks she can solve. She will barge into conversations or situations regardless of if she is wanted or not, and sees no problem with doing so.
- Self-deprecating- Kulma strives to be successful in all she does, and when she cannot be successful she blames herself. She can be very hard on herself to the point that she speaks poorly of herself in the company of others.
