((This character is a transfer from Western, in the event that Western re-opens he/she may transfer back and so does not count against the needs listings for the Weyr.))
Name: Garrett
Age: 24 Turns
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Rank: Junior weyrwoman
Family:
Father: Gerrit – Western Hold beastcrafter
Mother: Terese – Western Hold weavercrafter
Siblings: Terrene – sister (30 Turns) – Western Hold healer journeyman
Dragon: Grey Iroth
Pets: Smoky – Onyx gemtail
Appearance:
Fine featured, ‘delicate’ in appearance. Dark hair and eyes, perpetual smile hovering on his lips. He appears very feminine and is soft-spoken, but very definitely not a woman.
Basic Personality:
Garrett is more than just a wilting flower that will accept the orders of others. He’s a product of his childhood – adversity and hardship molded this young man into a steel-willed individual. He might be compliant most of the time, but expects orders to be carried out when they are within the realm of his responsibilities in the weyr. He’s flirty and friendly and like his dragon humble enough in his dealings with other riders that the unusual circumstance of his Impression usually doesn’t cause uncomfortable situations. He’s feminine, but not girly. He likes men because they are men and he doesn’t try to be female to attract them. He isn’t a woman trapped in a man’s body, he’s just Garrett.

History:
Garrett was born in one of the many beastholds of Keroon to his Beastcrafter father and Weaver mother who at that time had a six year-old girl. His childhood was happy enough until he noticed that he liked boys more than girls. He tried keeping it from his family and the others of the beasthold since the prejudice against same-sex relationships in Keroon was still very much alive.
His friendly and flirty nature got him into trouble where he made a suggestion in passing to one of the other hold boys and he got beaten severely by the boy and his cronies. They explained it away by saying it was an accident, but his parents knew better. They didn’t approve either, but at least they didn’t throw Garrett out of their hold. When the announcement came that Western Hold was being established his father and mother applied and got accepted to help with the founding.
Things at Western didn’t go much better, but Garrett got more adept at hiding his attraction and only got a black eye for his trouble a few times. One of his father’s colleagues took pity on the boy that kept on getting beat up and taught him some self-defense moves that helped him out of a tight scrape or two.
Garrett couldn’t have been happier the day that the Western Weyr Searchdragon came and took him to the weyr. There things were better and he finally came out of his sulky, guarded shell among others that didn’t frown upon his choices. He stood for Orlaith’s clutch once before he Impressed. It was a day he would never forget as long as he would live.
The Sand was hot underfoot and he was clustered with the other boys – the girls were vying for the attention of the grey egg on the sands. He would be quite happy Impressing a green and was paying more attention to all the eggs but the grey. When it split open, none of the boys were looking in that direction and Garrett was very surprised when the noise in the stands indicated that something was going on with the little Grey that had hatched. He glanced over in that direction, only to find himself nose-to-nose with a steely grey dragon, her eyes whirling redly.
While it was unusual for a Grey to choose a male, it had to be accepted since the dragon's choice was final after all. Being the Junior 'Weyrwoman' was interesting to say the least and he rose to the challenge with gusto. Falling for one of the blackriders was unexpected - a pleasant unexpected to be sure - and devastating when E'rra left to help Crescent Cove with their call for dragons.
With two other junior weyrwomen at Western, Garrett was compelled to point out to Talaria that she would be fine without him and that Rina could use someone at Crescent Cove. His only regret: not pointing that out when E'rra left and going with him.
If ever you become inactive without warning for a long period of time or decide to leave the site, what would you like me to do with your character?
Put him up for adoption as needed or have him die horribly as the situation requires.

Strengths
- Friendly – Garrett could easily have been a surly, sulky person, having been beaten up a lot during his childhood, but he made the decision not to let the closed-minded buffoons have the satisfaction of victory in breaking his spirit or his friendly nature.
- Strong-willed – you don’t get to be a greyrider without some backbone, the force of will to back up the public face.
- Non-judgmental – that is the one thing Garrett cannot be. Be it dragon, rider or drudge. He feels he’s come such a long way from being the lowest of the low within the Hold (even the drudges looked down on him) to a position of authority and respect within the Weyr.
- Reliable – when set a task or a promise given, Garrett will not waver or renege until its done properly and will never betray a trust.
- Funny – he’s got a finely tuned sense of humor that could slip into bitchiness if he’s not careful. Will make fun of a situation without embarrassing the people involved – just a well-placed pithy comment to defuse the circumstances.
Faults
- Moody – Garrett can sink into very black moods from time to time. He’ll keep to himself and hide in his weyr, rather than subject others to his mood.
- Sarcastic – he doesn’t suffer fools very gladly. He’s got a sharp tongue and a deft turn of phrase that would clearly show that person where they went wrong.
- Sloppy – there is always a welter of clothing strewn about his weyr, like he can’t make up his mind what to wear for the day and having to try on 15 outfits before deciding on one. In contrast, his riding gear and leathers are always immaculate.
- Insecure – for all the outward self-assurance and confidence, Garrett can be very insecure in his position at the weyr. A Grey dragon choosing a male rider is very strange and he’s had his fair share of resistance from riders and Holderfolk alike.
- Flirty – Garrett is not above flirting with any and all men that enters his orbit with sometimes less than pleasant results. Some thought that he would have been more suited to a Green, but the dragon is always right, as the saying goes.
