1. Do NOT take control of anyone else's character unless they tell you that you may. This is a huge pet peeve of mine and I cannot stress it enough. This includes things like:
2. Act as if your mother was watching over your shoulder when posting on the boards. It sounds funny but it works for things like OOC swearing and IC relationship interactions. Yes Pern is an adult world and we should all be adults here but not everyone wants to have certain things shoved in their faces.
I'm ex-military and I swear A LOT in real life, if I can keep it to a minimum here, so can you. ICly you may swear as much as your character would (in reason) but use Pernese swears. As far as IC anything beyond kissing/hugging/a comforting touch goes, we have PMs, email, and ims for a reason. Mating flights should fade to black or something similar once the female is caught.
3. Be nice! Do I really need to explain this one? Any personal rl problems should be dealt with OOCly on your own (you don't want to need me to do it for you but I will) and should NOT carry into your characters. Characters like who they like and are nice or not based on themselves not you. If you think your mood might affect your character you may want to take a break or chat OOCly until you calm down.
4. Post only to what you can handle, and don't make the others wait weeks for your next post if you are important to the story without letting them know first.
5. Along with that, if you are going to be gone for a week or more, let someone know. Of course if it's for a few days I don't mind getting a notification but it's not required.
6. Posts should be at least 150 word count and in third person. You can place multiple characters or character thoughts into a post which makes it fairly easy to reach 150. Posts should also be of proper grammar and spelling, but please don't be mean when correcting others. A simple pm will suffice. Double posting is a no, modify the previous post instead.
7. HADs are allowed but will only be awarded as a reward for something or possibly a character creation competition. There should be no more than 2 HADs in the Weyr (POSSIBLY one who is a holder, but would have probably been searched so there should be a good reason) so if you are given the privilege of playing a HAD and no longer wish to play them you should transfer them out, kill them, or something else that causes them to be removed from the Weyr (or possibly removes their ability/renders it unusable) so that others may have the chance. I will not be one of these HAD characters so don't think I will be doing this to save better characters for myself, I'm telling you right now I will NOT be making one.
8. Empathic/psychic characters allowed but in reason. Many riders have at least something special that sets them apart from others and prophetic dreams, feelings of impending disaster, the ability to influence one's feelings, strongly connected feelings between partners, and the ability to read another personality extraordinarily well are just some of the things that might be and have been seen in riders past. These abilities do tend to be rider-oriented as power is something that is picked up on easily by a searchdragon and even some riders. As stated in Dragonsflight, most riders at the very least can tell if they are being manipulated by someone with power so doing so in a Weyr is usually a very bad idea.
Any powers should be requested privately before making the character so you don't feel as if your character concept is ruined if the ability is denied. Powers should be used discreetly and anyone seen abusing them will have them removed or be banished from the Weyr. Most characters don't advertise their abilities.
9. IC is IC and OOC is OOC, please keep them separate.
10. No Godmodding, you know what it is, end of story.
11. Keep signatures to a decent size that do not stretch the page, if your signature is longer than 4 inches it is too long.
12. RL comes first, if you ever feel that you are being pressured otherwise, let the person (even me) know.
