Appearance:
Rosetta stands at about 5'5" and while she is considered skinny, she has fairly decent arm strength from holding the metal pipes required to blow glass for hours on end. She has long wavy black hair and dark brown eyes. Her skin is slightly tanned from life in the Southern Continent, but she usually spends her time indoors working so it isn't overly so. Seeing a burn or two on her is not unusual given her craft, usually on her forearms and hands.
She usually prefers to wear long thick wherhide pants and a long-sleeved shirt of some sort along with wherhide gloves and apron while working glass. If not working she typically throws on whatever is available before walking out the door. She doesn't usually dress up for Gathers as she usually works at them, though if she ever went for fun she probably would.
Skills
-Glasscrafter: What she really excels at is artistic glass sculptures. She almost seems to breathe life into them. She has a decent amount of skill with making all other glasscraft items, using her sale of those to support her more artistic talents.
-"Future Flashes": She sometimes gets pictures of the future, but they are just that, pictures and nothing more. She can't control what she sees, when she sees, or when the flash happens. Sometimes if she is working on a glass sculpture when a flash happens she will come back to a finished and cooled sculpture depicting what she just saw with startling realism. As far as she can tell she isn't able to prevent the future she sees and almost went mad trying when she was younger. She tries her best to hide this ability, going so far as to melt down any future sculptures that she creates.
Basic Personality:
Rosetta is a kind girl who seems much softer than she actually is, and her glass art only reinforces peoples belief in this. The tragedy in her life has served to make her strong, and yet she still remains vulnerable. Each time she gets a "flash" it seems to wear down on her making her scared and sad for a time (usually at least until she can get back to her work or Magic can comfort her). People who see her on a good day would have difficulty recognizing her in her post-"flash" state.
Strengths
- Artistic: She sees things in that special way that only artistic souls do. She has spent turns honing her ability to make the way she sees things real in glass.
- Rose above her past: Rosetta's past is particularly tragic, and yet she moves on with her life with a strange sort of optimism that many in her situation fail to achieve.
- Dedicated: She will see something she has started through to the end no matter how difficult. This applies to both minor and major things, as well as her craft.
- Knowing: She sees your face before she meets you, she sees events before they happen, she knows about things that she never actually witnessed. Its hard to pull the wool over her eyes, and even more difficult to surprise her.
- Dignified: The daughter of a Holder, grandchild of a Lord Holder, Rosetta knows how to conduct herself with grace and dignity.
Faults
- Haunted: The things she sees haunt her, and often leave her appearing distracted/withdrawn. She tends to look like she's watching things that aren't there, and she will usually look into events that people see as average with strange possession.
- Guilty: She feels guilty about what happened to her parents, feeling as if she should have been able to stop the events that lead to their death.
- Critical: A hopeless perfectionist, she tends to be unhappy with anything short of exactly what she expected as far as her work goes.
- Socially Awkward: Rosetta doesn't really know how to deal with people properly, and most think she's weird due to the way she acts after her "flashes"
- Scared: Her "flashes" terrify her, and it shows after she has one. This makes it difficult for her to ever be alone, Magic in particular has helped to balance her a great deal.
History:
Rosetta was born to the Holder of Crescent Mine hold and his wife shortly after he became Holder. Though the mines were a minor hold, Rosetta lacked for nothing as her father was the son of the then current Lord Holder of Southern Hold. At age 8 her father bestowed upon her a firelizard egg. When the little beast hatched she named him the only thing her 8 turn old mind though appropriate for such a wonderful thing, Magic.
When she was 10 turns old the smiths of the hold noticed the girl's love and skill in glasscraft and began training her in those skills. By the age of 12 she had been shipped off to the Smithcraft Hall to study more in the art of shaping glass. It was also around this time when her "flashes" started. At first she just thought the images to be coincidence. So what if she saw a picture of herself with a skinned knee, and then ended up being pushed down by boy at the Hall the following day. Each similarity between her sight and the events after was written off quickly with some half-formed defense of why it just wasn't possible.
Then day while crafting a sculpture for a project her Master had given her she of a daze to find a strange sculpture in front of her. In far more detail than she thought possible for her still growing skills was a scene of a cave in, limbs sticking out of rubble here and there. She thought it was strange, but simply got to work on a new piece as she didn't think her Master would appreciate the morbidity of this one. The next day as she worked, she received word that her parents, while inspecting an older section of the mines to evaluate their safety, had been crushed in a cave in. Shocked and scared, Rosetta turned to the sculpture she had made the day before and noticed that one of the hands sticking out of the rocks bore the same ring her mother always wore. She snapped, smashing the piece to bits until it was little more than the sand it had started as.
Throughout the next few turns Rosetta discovered more about her ability, none of it that she particularly liked, but she felt it was her job to learn as much as she could about what was happening to her. She fought hard to get over the loss of her parents, managing to achieve Journeywoman status at age 17 against the odds and to the surprise of everyone who thought her fragile after her parents' deaths.
She went home to continue her craft, and has recently moved to Crescent Cove Hold, bringing her business and Magic with her.
