Appearance:
Nadhari is beautiful in every sense of the word, and yet next to Rina's red hair, pale skin, and green eyes she hardly stands out at all. Like most people on Pern Nadhari has dark eyes and dark hair. Her skin is tanned from growing up on the southern continent. Her slim frame stands at about 5'7", in her opinion too tall for a proper girl. Her legs are muscled from constant running, and she doesn't seem to lack for upper body strength either. If asked she would say that delivering messages as a runner often means she is alone in the jungles of the Southern continent, and she isn't about to let a feline eat her because she was lazy.
Where her sister prefers dresses, Nadhari is usually seen wearing trousers and a light tunic. She also seems to have a tendency to prefer being barefoot, even when she dresses up for a gather. Her hair is usually pulled up in a high runnerstail, possibly also braided.
Skills
-Runner: Going against the family trade Nadhari took up her trade as a Runner. She is decently good at her job, but not really anything special at it. Even since becoming a candidate she has kept up with this skill.
-Exceptional dancer: This is the one thing that she truely excels at above everything else. When she dances she seems to forget herself and is simply free.
-Singing: Nadhari's voice is strong where Rina's is angelic. No one would consider her better than her sister, but she is certainly very good.
Basic Personality:
Nadhari grew up in the shadow of her "perfect" sister, and getting out from under that shadow seems to be the goal of everything she does. When her sister impressed Useth she decided to leave Southern Weyr to go and assist with the construction of Crescent Cove Weyr and it's holds. Much to her chagrin Rina ended up at this Weyr also, and now Nadhari is to stand as candidate for Useth's clutch to top it all off. Nadhari felt as if she was making her own place on this island, and now Rina is once again taking the spotlight which makes her more than a little stand-offish.
Despite all this Nadhari loves Rina very much and realizes why she is here has nothing to due with her little sister. Nor does Nadhari seem to have any desire to tell Rina that she doesn't really want her here.
Strengths
- Protective: Nadhari is the strong one of her family, which means she tends to want to protect them. Although Rina is the eldest, Nadhari always acted the role more, only more so since Rina's Impression.
- Fights for what she believes in: If she thinks it is right, Nadhari will fight for it. She has great difficulty letting such things slide.
- Speaks her mind: For better or for worse Nadhari says what she is thinking without sugar-coating it.
- Loyal: Earn her trust and you have a champion for life.
- Mentally Strong: She is very difficult to sway, and even harder to break down.
- Observant: Nadhari is constantly watching things play out around her. Small details are easily noticed by her.
Faults
- Guarded: Hard to read, very hard to earn the trust of. Even with those she likes she rarely lets them see the true her.
- Keeps things to herself: Unless she thinks you need to know something, she won't tell you anything. Information is a powerful tool that should only be shared with the right people in her mind.
- Aggressive: Nadhari has no "ladylike" qualms over using force if necessary.
- Pushy: Sometimes Nadhari doesn't know when to let something go, especially if she believes it is important.
- Blunt: Nadhari tends to say things in ways that get her in trouble, so unless she deems it necessary she usually keeps her mouth shut.
- Lives in the shadow of her sister: Everything Nadhari does it seems to her as if her sister is better at it. She sings well, Rina does it better. She is beautiful, Rina stands out even more. Rina is a gentle lady, Nadhari most certainly is not. When they were both Searched, it was Rina who impressed the Gold while Nadhari stood on the sands alone.
History:
Nadhari is the second eldest of a family of Harpers living in Southern Hold. She has spent most of her life caring for her sibilings, both younger and older, and the rest of it in her elder sister's shadow.
Starting young, Nadhari showed talent in the family trade, and at first she was content to study as such. By the time she reached five turns of age she began to realize that anything she did was always done better by her sister Rina. No matter how hard she would try it was never as good as her sister, and she turned away from life as a Harper before she was even old enough to go to the Craft Hall.
Quite decided upon what she was NOT doing in life, she now had to decide what she was doing. All she really knew was that she wanted to run far far away from the life her family expected of her. So she took up her trade as a runner at 12 turns of age. At first she only ran between homes and farms of Southern Hold, then as she grew older she was given more dangerous routes (with supervision at first) to surrounding minor and cotholds. She learned very quickly how to defend herself from Southern's wildlife and grew even stronger. When she was 15 she was Searched by Southern Weyr as Rina had been the turn before and almost didn't go for that reason, but the dream of riding a dragon is still strong at that age and so she went.
Nadhari has yet to Impress, so she keeps up with her running by taking minor messages that do not warrant to the holds for the Weyr. When Rina impressed 2 turns ago Nadhari decided to move to Crescent island to assist the Weyr and holds there with communications during their construction.
When Rina came to Crescent Cove Nadhari was less than thrilled, but realized it had nothing to do with her so she helps out however she can. Now she stands as a Candidate for her sister's clutch. A less than perfect situation for her, and yet, the dream still fades slowly.
